திருக்குறள்

குறள் – 9.

கோளில் பொறியின் குணமிலவே எண்குணத்தான்
தாளை வணங்காத் தலை. (1-1-9)

Kolil poriyin kunamilavei yenkunaththaan
thaalai vanangaath thalai.

தயையுள்ள இனிய குணங்களையுடைய இறைவனின் அடிகளை வணங்காத தலைகள், புலன் உணர்வற்ற பொறிகள் போலப் பயனற்றவையாகும்.

The head that worships not the feet of Him who is possessed of eight attributes, is as useless as a sense without the power of sensation.
